Maybe when you were growing up, braces were never an option. Or you might have had braces as a teen, but when you went off to college, you quickly forgot about your retainer and your teeth shifted back into their old positions. Whatever the reason, you’re unhappy with your smile, but you’ve never been able to justify getting braces as an adult.
Isn’t it more embarrassing to have metal braces than it is to have crooked teeth? Braces are just cosmetic—I can’t spend that kind of money on myself when I have kids to take care of! When would I find the time to go to orthodontist appointments?
If any of this sounds familiar, it’s because you’re not alone—we hear these and more from our adult orthodontics patients. But now is the perfect time for adults to finally pursue the orthodontic treatment they’ve been thinking about for years. Here’s why:
You’re Wearing a Mask When You Go Out
So many adults decide against getting braces because they’re worried about the esthetics. We get it—no one wants to be in their 30s or 40s and displaying a mouth full of metal whenever they smile. But now, we’re all wearing masks wherever we go (on the rare occasions that we do go out!), so no one has to know you have braces. You might even be able to complete your orthodontic treatment before mask mandates are over.
You’re Likely Working From Home
Unless you’re unlucky enough to have to attend regular video meetings, working from home means your co-workers and clients won’t see that you have braces. It also makes it easier to duck out for an hour to go to the orthodontist.
We Offer Free Consultations Over Zoom
If you’ve struggled to find the time to visit us for an appointment, we now offer free consultations over Zoom to help you understand your orthodontic options. Of course, we’ll still need to see you in person at some point, but we can get the ball rolling with a virtual visit.
Invisalign Is Perfect for Social Distancing and Busy Lives
If you’re a candidate for Invisalign, it’s ideal for these times—it requires fewer office appointments than braces. Instead of needing to come to our office for regular adjustments, you’ll switch to a new set of aligners on your own approximately every two weeks. We’ll just need you to come in every six weeks or so to ensure that your progress is on the right track.
Clear Braces Might Be an Option
There are some patients who have complex orthodontic issues that are best treated with braces. If Invisalign isn’t an option for you, we offer clear braces. They’re discreet enough that no one in your work Zoom meetings will know that you have them.
Your Oral Health Will Be Improved
Orthodontic treatment isn’t frivolous and it’s not cosmetic—it has real benefits for your oral health and even your overall well-being. Misalignments in the jaw can cause headaches, temporomandibular joint (TMJ) issues, and abnormal wear on your teeth that may lead to chips and fractures. Crowded teeth are difficult to clean and prone to cavities. The decision to get braces is one you’re making to improve your dental health.
You Deserve a Smile You’re Proud Of
Yes, we just got finished telling you how orthodontics can benefit your health. But here’s the thing—even if it didn’t, you deserve to have a smile you feel good about. You shouldn’t live with the burden of feeling self-conscious about your smile. You don’t have to dread getting your picture taken or beat yourself up over not wearing your retainer when you were younger.
Many of our adult orthodontics patients are parents who bring their kids to our practice. Like most parents, they sacrifice for their children—they get them braces even when their own teeth are crooked, they take time off of work to make sure they arrive to all their appointments on time. This is what we do as parents and there’s nothing wrong with that, but it’s also important to take care of yourself too, especially during a stressful time that has you balancing work, a disrupted school schedule, and kids who are frustrated with so many changes in the world that they don’t fully understand.
If you’ve always wanted straighter teeth, let’s work together to make it happen. We offer interest-free payment plans and a variety of orthodontic treatment options that are a fit for a variety of needs, lifestyles, and preferences.
